Description
Unique opportunity to experience a multi-disciplinary unpaid Health and Wellness internship. Interns will rotate among several departments including but not limited to membership, fitness center, aquatics, disease management and prevention, and nutrition. Interns may assist with and gain experience to include:
  • Program design, promotion, implementation, and evaluation specific to aquatics—fitness— chronic disease education, management, and prevention
  • Member health/fitness assessments, screenings and surveys
  • Fitness programming and exercise prescription to include cardio, strength, and flexibility
  • Group fitness instruction and leadership; personal and small group training
  • Membership sales, advertising campaigns, facility tours
  • Data collection, entry and analysis, Daxko membership operating system
  • Planning, researching, and purchasing incentives, equipment, and other operational needs  Budgets and grants  Community outreach, health fairs, and other events
  • Diabetes and chronic disease prevention self-management education and support
  • Nutrition and kitchen operations
  • Special projects as needed

    Qualifications:
  • Students interested in learning dynamics specific to the world of Health and Wellness through hands-on work experience with an established local non-profit organization
  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Majors or areas of study to include Health Promotion, Exercise Science, or related field
  • Computer and digital literacy to include MS Office and Google applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, dependable, and enthusiastic
  • Self-motivated, flexible, team player, able to work independently without continuous supervision
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work in the office environment provided
  • Commitment to the organization's values and culture of diversity, inclusion and empowerment

    Time Requirement: Minimum of one semester; Monday—Friday, flexible scheduling to accommodate academic program requirements
